Hormone Health
and Optimisation.

Specialist, clinician-led hormone care on Harley Street, in Wimbledon and online globally, personalised to your physiology, not a template.

What is hormone optimisation?

Hormones govern nearly every system in the body: mood, metabolism, sleep, cognition and long-term resilience.

When they fall out of balance, for both men and women, the effects are rarely confined to one symptom. Patients frequently describe years of accumulating complaints, from persistent fatigue and brain fog to unexplained weight gain and disrupted sleep, investigated piecemeal without a clear resolution.

Hormone Health & Optimisation at The Schoeman Clinic takes a different approach. Rather than treating isolated symptoms, we investigate the full hormonal picture, identifying the root causes of imbalance and creating a personalised, evidence-based plan to restore optimal physiology.

Every assessment is clinically led, guided by detailed specialist testing and tailored to the individual, whether you are navigating perimenopause, andropause, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal fatigue, insulin resistance, or a combination of hormonal concerns.

How this differs from standard GP care
“NHS reference ranges are population-based and rarely account for individual variation. We work to your optimal range, not a statistical average, combining functional and conventional medicine in the same consultation.”

The pathway

What to expect from your hormone care.

Four unhurried stages, each conducted with the depth your circumstances demand.

A consultation at The Schoeman Clinic
Your care begins with a comprehensive consultation with your doctor. We review your full medical history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and any previous investigations in detail. This is not a brief GP appointment. Hormonal dysfunction rarely has a single cause. Prior to your first consultation we arrange a targeted pre-consultation blood panel so your doctor has meaningful clinical data alongside your history from your very first appointment.
Accurate hormone optimisation depends on precise measurement. We use advanced laboratory testing through our diagnostic partner, The Doctors Laboratory (TDL), to assess a comprehensive range of hormonal and metabolic markers: sex hormone panels, thyroid function, adrenal hormones including cortisol and DHEA, fasting insulin, HbA1c, metabolic biomarkers and inflammatory markers, alongside functional assessments where clinically indicated. Each panel is selected for your specific presentation and clinical need, never as a standard checklist.
Your doctor authors a personalised plan addressing the underlying drivers of your imbalance. Integrative approaches may include bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (body-identical oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA); thyroid optimisation including T3/T4 where appropriate; adrenal support; insulin sensitisation and metabolic correction; targeted nutritional and supplement prescribing; sleep, stress and movement medicine; and hormone detoxification with liver pathway support. All prescribing is evidence-based and guided by NICE, BMS, IFM and WorldLink Medical's advanced BHRT framework.
Hormone optimisation is a process, not a one-time intervention. Follow-up consultations allow your doctor to review your progress, adjust your plan in response to repeat testing, and ensure therapy continues to evolve with your clinical picture. Long-term monitoring is central to patient safety and to achieving lasting results.

Who this is for

You may recognise yourself here.

Most patients arrive after months, sometimes years, of partial answers. These are the situations we see most often.

  • In transition

Experiencing symptoms of perimenopause, menopause or andropause and wanting thorough specialist investigation rather than a standardised prescription.

  • Normal results, still unwell

Told your blood tests are “normal” but continuing to feel unwell.

  • Diagnosed, not resolved

Living with a diagnosed hormonal condition such as PCOS, endometriosis, hypothyroidism or PMDD, where current management is not adequately addressing your quality of life.

  • Symptoms without answers

Struggling with unexplained fatigue, mood changes, weight gain, poor sleep or cognitive difficulties, and suspect hormones may be a contributing factor.

  • Ageing deliberately

Wanting to take a proactive, evidence-informed approach to your hormonal health as you age.

  • Considering BHRT

Considering bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and seeking specialist guidance from a clinician with advanced BHRT training.

Frequently asked

Questions patients ask us.

What patients most often want to understand before booking: how consultations run, how testing is arranged, and what happens once your plan begins.

If your question is not answered here, our patient office will answer it personally within one working day.

Speak to the clinic
Your initial consultation with your doctor is a comprehensive clinical appointment. They will review your full medical history, discuss your symptoms in detail and assess your pre-consultation blood test results. Together you will discuss treatment options and your doctor will outline a personalised plan tailored to your goals and clinical presentation. There is no pressure to begin treatment immediately. The consultation is an opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of your hormonal health.
No. You may self-refer directly to The Schoeman Clinic. We do recommend informing your GP that you are receiving private hormonal care, as this supports continuity of care across your healthcare team.
Body-identical hormones, also referred to as bioidentical hormones, are structurally identical to those produced naturally by the human body. Many are available on NHS prescription and are referenced in NICE guidelines. Your doctor is trained in the full spectrum of body-identical and bioidentical hormone prescribing and will discuss the options most appropriate for your clinical situation.
This varies between individuals and depends on the imbalance being treated, the treatment approach selected and individual physiological response. Many patients report meaningful improvements in energy, sleep and mood within six to twelve weeks of beginning treatment. Ongoing monitoring allows your doctor to adjust protocols in response to your progress.
All consultations at The Schoeman Clinic are entirely confidential and conducted within the framework of GMC guidance on patient confidentiality and data protection legislation. Your information will not be shared without your explicit consent, other than in circumstances required by law.
The Schoeman Clinic is a self-pay private clinic. Health insurance does not routinely cover hormone health, functional medicine or longevity medicine consultations. However, if we refer you for further investigations, those referrals may be eligible for insurance reimbursement depending on your policy. We recommend contacting your insurer to confirm your specific coverage.
Yes. We offer secure online consultations for patients globally. Pre-consultation blood testing can be arranged at a location convenient to you, and your results will be reviewed by your doctor as part of your online appointment.
